ALEXANDRA

Alexandra began practicing yoga at the age of 15 and hasn’t left the mat since. After following her gut instinct through two pivotal periods in her life, attending a Culinary Arts Academy and spending nearly 5 years in Paris, she returned to her birthplace, New York City, where she would begin a third. In 2009, as a student of David Hollander, she was introduced to the Ashtanga style and a welcoming Mysore tradition. Shortly thereafter, she completed her first teacher training at the Ananda Ashram and before ever having visited the grounds, knew that Ananda’s rich history was part of her path; that teaching yoga was one of the few worthwhile endeavors she could ever fully dedicate herself to with a crystal clear heart, mind, body and spirit. The ashram’s intensive, scholarly, study of Sanskrit and the Yoga Sutras furthered her deep respect and appreciation for spiritual teachings.
Influenced by a variety of styles including Hatha, Bikram, Power Vinyasa and Ashtanga, Alexandra aims to guide students to a place of relaxed strength, effortless quietude.
