Yoga gives me peace. Yoga gives me perspective. Yoga teaches me about change. Yoga balances me.
My journey into Yoga started in 2004 when a good friend took me to my first Power Vinyasa Yoga class in a studio just around the corner from our house in Boulder, Colorado. At the time, I was a Junior in college living the Pre Med student life and thinking I was going to follow in my parents’ footsteps and be a famous doctor.
But something was missing. I was often upset and easily irritable. I have to thank Yoga for helping me discover I wanted to be a Journalist and not a doctor. Walking on a Yoga mat, I met my real self and decided to turn my life upside down to fulfill "my truth." I am now a photojournalist and freelance writer based in Brooklyn, N.Y. and, most of all, I am happy. When I am not writing or taking pictures, I am teaching Yoga in the hope I can help someone else discover their true self as I did.
I received my 200 RYT (Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher) certification from the Baron Baptiste affiliated Core Power Yoga Studio in Boulder, CO in 2006. I have been teaching Power Vinyasa ever since. Throughout the years, I have focused my teachings on helping students become aware of their physical selves while trying to quiet their wandering minds and egos, following the mantra: "Happiness is not about becoming different, it's about dropping the struggle of being somebody else!"
Power Vinyasa is a flow-like type of Yoga where the pranayama (or breath) helps linking the poses together, providing the right rhythm to the whole sequence. The class moves along "one breath, one movement," at the time through standing poses, twists, balances, hip openers and ending with inversions. Expect my class to be challenging and "spicy" since my Italian and rock climber spirits might "occasionally" kick in.
When you do not find me on my Yoga mat, your best bet is to look for me at the Brooklyn Boulder Rock Climbing Gym, practicing Yoga on my roof-top or to fly to my hometown in Rome, Italy.
